Fighting Cancer with a Healthy Diet

Maybe I am just reaching “the age”… But, it seems like over the past two months, we have learned of so many friends who have been diagnosed with some type of cancer.  One of them being a family member, my sweet father in law.  We all went from one week, thinking he was perfectly healthy, the next day learning he had a blockage in his colon and suspicious spots on his liver.  Cancer or not…he had to have surgery to remove the mass in his colon.  After surgery, the physicians confirmed that it was stage 4 cancer.  A colostomy bag later,  learning how to deal with the bag,  now learning how I can help fight cancer through his diet…  It has been one hell of a holiday!  We will be meeting with the Oncologist tomorrow morning to discuss treatment options.  Along with some advice from my brother in law, I  am learning the importance of a healthy diet!  Thank GOD…  we already eat a great diet and we exercise daily.  Although, my exercise habits and my diet have been primarily for weight loss and maintainance… I am now determined to learn how I can help my father in law fight cancer through his diet as well as improve my diet for cancer prevention.  One of the first things I have learned is that cancer feeds off of sugar!  As I start to get back into a routine of regular recipe posts,  I want to try and post recipes that are not only healthy, but tasty as well.  Please keep my father in law in your prayers!!!  Thank you and God Bless!!!
